DATE: 12 August 2013
Industry, government and private investors are celebrating the launch of environmental consultant Reef Catchments Solutions.
The company, a subsidiary of not-for-profit natural resource management organisation Reef Catchments, offers a range of environmental services including rural and landscape fire management, rural production innovation systems and fisheries and aquatic ecosystem support.
Reef Catchments Solutions is the first group to offer such niche environmental services in the Mackay Whitsunday region and to capitalise on opportunities made possible by the shifting structure of State Government. The company recently acquired the fishway design, monitoring and rehabilitation staff and resources no longer offered by Fisheries Queensland.
MP Jason Costigan, Member for Whitsunday, supports Reef Catchments Solutions and says the commercialisation of environmental services is an effective model for sustainability into the future.
Reef Catchments Solutions provides environmental monitoring, operations, planning, strategy development, policy development and research from their offices in Mackay, Proserpine and Brisbane, Queensland. Their clientele currently includes Coca Cola South Pacific, World Wildlife Foundation, Bayer, Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and Fitzroy Basin Association.
